Proprietary trading firms utilize three main drawdown calculation systems to monitor trader risk:

Static Drawdown: The loss threshold remains fixed at a specific dollar amount (e.g. $90,000 on a $100,000 account). The limit never moves higher regardless of profit earned, giving traders the maximum room to operate.
End-Of-Day (EOD) Trailing Drawdown: The loss limit updates only at market close based on equity high-water mark, giving open intraday positions room to breathe during volatile market spikes.
Intraday Live Trailing Drawdown: The drawdown threshold trails peak unrealized equity in real time. Traders must actively lock in profits to prevent trailing equity trailing stops from breaching.
